Overpriced steakhouse nusr
right, high-quality: the downtown area dallas has a new steakhouse, nusr et, that charges up to $1,000 to grill you a steak and then theatrically bounce too much salt off someone's body and onto your meal. are you content?
nusr et is a global chain of 18 ultra costly steakhouses in cities like new york, dubai and as well as istanbul, with been greeted with hostility wherever it goes, and not simply for the prices. but about those valuations: the cheeseburger is $30, hamburger "spaghetti" is just $80, vegetable sides are all $19 and a sheet of baklava for dessert is $25. a mustard marinated beef tenderloin runs $140, along with the tomahawk rib eye, which is sometimes called saltbae, is considered $275.
as if that is not enough, potential buyers in miami allege that staff upcharged them to $1,000 gold wrapped steaks without their authorization. the miami herald reports that the place has called police over a dozen times on customers disputing their bills. another guest was more excellent: venezuelan president nicols maduro, whose visit sparked arena outrage. two different small businesses in the group have faced wage theft lawsuits, moving one for $230,000. this brand new dallas location already faces legal action over unpaid bills to providers. oh yea, and the food clearly is uneven: new york times critic pete wells called "terrific" steaks but "sordid" mashed potatoes and cocktails that tasted burnt, while buzzfeed's scaachi koul had a pizza that "oozes junk tears" and then had diarrhea.
the whole chain is built on the premise that you've a guy who does a thing, and you'll instagram a picture of the guy doing the thing. the thing is that putting salt on food in a flamboyant manner. most of the guy is nusret gke, nicknamed salt bae, a turkish chef and butcher who became a meme for his salting technique and has been cashing in since that time.
with 18 spots and only one guy, there's at best a 5.6% chance you'll come across the guy do the thing.
if i sound annoyed, then i'm getting my point across. i just wish make use of them stop acting like giant tools. gke asiame scam could be the biggest embarrassment to turkish americans since mehmet oz joined the trump obama administration. by the way, there aren't a number of us out there being famous and good. it's mostly just enes kanter and d'arcy carden. hmm, i am just sad.
my sympathies. want to share the menu at nusr et? let's talk about the menu, which isn't published online yet, not necessarily with prices, but has produced its way onto facebook.
"we are proud to announce that 99% of our meat selections are highly marbled authentic wagyu beef sourced from the top wagyu producers from everywhere [sic], the menu reads. o. k, but which producers? a whole lot of dallas steakhouse has been naming ranches and farms for years. and should you follow the other 1%? how do you know if your steak almost certainly the second class cuts slipping through?
what could make a mashed potato worth $19?
my biggest question concerns the sauted broccoli, reviewed thus: "the sauce incorporates shell fish and gluten [sic], to broccoli? i'm guessing would you sauce of butter, flour and shrimp securities. if you decide to go, figure out.
sometimes: please do not go. the list of nusr et locations is a list of places all over where it is especially easy to part fools from their money. dallas makes perfect sense for them.
we're within the center of a pandemic that threatens to destroy every small, locally owned sales we love. we might support them, or spend $19 on a potato. the pandemic has killed exceeding 2.5 million people anywhere int he planet. did gke wear a protective face mask while he threw salt at dallasites' food earlier this week? you receive one guess.
